The Pavilion transformation – You’ll be ‘bowled over’

Dear VPBC member.

You CAN make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear! The Pavilion transformation shows it can be done!

The Building Team are sure you will be delighted with the results of your donation to the modernization of the kitchen, club-room and reception that you made last year.  Everyone that has been is amazed at the change.

After completing the works last year, the Team decided to stick together and to tackle the toilets which have been unchanged for 70 years!  Many items were faulty and needed replacing. We were not sure how much we could do or how much it would cost.  However, we agreed with the Committee that toilet refurbishment was essential if we were to attract new members and retain old ones….. and the Flower Show company supported the plan.
So we got started….. and we’ve achieved a huge transformation with new hygienic wall panels, new flooring, new ceilings, new lighting, new toilet and washbasin units, new fans, new mirrors, new hand wash units and a new colour scheme…… and an additional ladies toilet!!  The change is amazing.  But it needs to be paid for! And it’s cost £3,500!!
If you like what you see, I will really welcome your supportive donation to the toilet project. Just £10 or £20 or whatever you can afford from everyone would plug the funding shortfall and help the Club out. I’ve put a collection box on the kitchen counter and donation envelopes by the Club post box.  Alternatively, you can click on the link below to donate online (with Gift Aid if you wish) using your debit or credit card. Try it!

The match green and our transformed Pavilion opens tomorrow. Both are looking great and I hope they will attract many new members in the coming months.

There are a few changes in the Pavilion that you need to know:
1. The lights turn on/off at ONE switch in the reception corridor. The lockup person must turn the lights OFF.
2. The toilet lights turn on and off automatically via movement detectors.
3. The hot water boiler for tea/coffee and the room wall heater are turned on at a time limit switch next to each appliance. Each one turns off automatically after 2 hours.
4. The new fuse board panel is for emergency use only.  Please do not touch it and let me or a Committee member know of any problems,.

5. To minimize dirt on the new flooring, please wipe your feet as you come in on the mats by the front door .

Di Banahan and Sue Mountford have taken over from me today and will be providing kitchen and cleaning supplies and ensuring the Pavilion is clean and well maintained. Please clean up after your visit and let them know about any Pavilion problems or suggestions. A big thank you Di and Sue.
I look forward to seeing you.   Good bowling.
Cheers. Dave
Pavilion Project Leader (retired) and Treasurer
