End of season report – Aughton Mens ‘B’

A big well done and thank you to a team that matured in stature throughout the season with an excellent run at the end of three wins on the trot and the final game producing 5 winners, which enabled us to secure 3rd from bottom place with 101 points, all this considering nearly half the team had little or no experience of league bowls.

Thanks also to my vice captain Les Appleton for his help, support and encouragement, which I definitely needed when I took over the captains role. Thank you also to Andy Muchall who stepped in for Les, when he was not available.

The team spirit and commitment has been fantastic and I’m really looking forward to next season, the potential to do better is certainly there.
A special thank you to the ladies, Diane, Judy, Lynne, Noreen and Doreen for their help and support in marking the cards, making the tea and providing the vocal encouragement when we needed it.
Despite some of the results earlier on, it has still been an enjoyable and rewarding season for me and I am proud to be associated with a fantastic bunch of people – THANK YOU
