August Newsletter
Hi all members
SOUTHPORT FLOWER SHOW
The Southport Flower Show build up is continuing at a hectic pace. It is a huge job of work, requires enormous coordination and is a massive investment that depends on good weather for its success.
The SFS preparation work puts our Car Park out of use until 3 September. All parking must be in the Paddock, the grass area immediately to the left of the gate barrier as you enter the Park.
Due to the arrival of hundreds of exhibitors, the Paddock is closed for Bowling Club members from Monday, 13 August and will reopen use by members on Tuesday, 21 August.
There is a lot of vehicle activity on the Park in the next week. Please park responsibly and take great care for your own safety and that of others.
There are still some Flower Show wristbands available at £8.00 each for the Thursday, 16 Aug, afternoon Round Robin. If you wish to come, please complete the form in the Pavilion.
CLUB AWAY DAY to CANBERRA CLUB, Salmesbury, Near Preston on Saturday, 1 September
The Annual Away Day is a big feature in the life of VPBC and it comes soon after the Flower Show.
This year, we are returning to a venue popular with many bowling clubs, the Canberra Club, Salmesbury which is the Sports & Social Club of BAE Systems.
It is a magnificent location boasting great facilities, good food and a very good bowling green. Bowling will be arranged socially so that it is enjoyable for all.
There will be a coach pickup from a location near you at 9-10am and the coach will return you at 8-9pm.
Tea/coffee will be served on arrival, followed by lunch and a two course dinner at about 5.30pm…… all for £25!
Please fill in the application form attached or collect one from the Pavilion.
Round Robin social bowling.
There will be R Robin bowling on 7 and 11 August but none on 14 and 18 August. R Robins will resume on 21 August.
There will be no R Robin on the Club Away Day on 1 September.
