VPBC NEWSLETTER – November 2018

2018 HAS BEEN A GREAT YEAR FOR THE CLUB.
The modernised pavilion has made a huge difference.
The League Bowling Teams have done very well.
Social Activities have been lively and very popular
We have had 48 new members who are especially welcome.

BOWLING GREENS.
We are really fortunate to have two good greens and these are now being mown by three new volunteers. Many thanks to them!
We are still using the second green for Social play. The popular Round Robins on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays continue at the moment, weather permitting.. Please register by 12.15 pm for a 12.30 pm start.
However, Saturday, 1 December will be the final bowling day this year. Both greens will be closed during December and January. The greens will be re-opened in 2019 as soon as the weather conditions allow.

SHORT MAT INDOOR BOWLING AT THE DUNES.
Bowling can still be a 12 month activity. The VPBC members’ sessions at Dunes are now in full swing on Wednesdays starting at 1.00 pm. The cost is only £2.20 per session payable at the desk and your Dunes parking fee is refunded. If you are interested, please call Sue Mountford on 07805 085291.

AGM 2019.
This is on Saturday, 2 March and is to be held again at Emmanuel, Cambridge Rd Southport. The AGM will elect the new 12 committee members plus 3 Officers – Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. The Team sign up sheets will be ready for you and your membership fee can be paid at the meeting.

TEAMS
Next year we have will run 4 Afternoon Ladies teams, 2 on a Thursday and 2 on Friday. Any Lady member not currently in a league team, please call Judy Muchall on 01704 874458.

We had 7 men’s teams this year and will probably add another team in 2019 if we have a few more players. Some teams play in the afternoon and others in the evening. Any members wanting to learn more or discuss their options, please call me on 07860 309723 quickly. A new team must apply very soon to join a 2019 league.

COACHING
An important statement in the Club Constitution is our commitment “to provide training and coaching for members”. This means team members and social bowlers alike. An announcement about our 2019 coaching plans will be made in the New Year.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
The Social Committee are preparing plans for a wonderful programme of Social Activities in the year ahead. Watch this space.
