VPBC Newsletter – February 2020
Annual General Meeting
The club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday 29th February is the main event this month. Please arrive at Emmanuel Church on Cambridge Road in good time for the 10.30am prompt start. (It would be great if at least 100 members attend).
You can renew your annual membership on the day (£50), and perhaps purchase a fascinating booklet written by David Spratt – “A Centenary History of VPBC” which is an excellent read, and good value at £2. Tea & Coffee will be available for 50p.
At the AGM we need to approve the Accounts & Reports and hold Elections. There will be the usual opportunity to sign-up for league teams and sign-up as a volunteer – a little extra help will make a big difference to your club.
There will also be time for suggestions and questions.
Pre-season Social Event
The Social Committee have announced the first centenary event. This will see us return to The Old Links Golf Club on Friday 13 March for hot buffet, dessert + music for the great price of £15. Limited to 80 places. Choose menu and buy ticket at the AGM (or call or text Noreen on 07922096976 or send an email to noreenlewis4@aol.com to reserve place).
Booking forms will be in available in the clubhouse from Tuesday 4th February.
You can collect forms or drop off payment in the drop box when the clubhouse is open on Tuesday afternoons.
Bowling Greens
Both greens are looking well, and both will be used by our league teams in our centenary year. We will announce when greens will re-open as soon as possible. The league matches start at the beginning of April. Fixtures are already starting to be posted to our website – www.victoriabowlingclubsouthport.com

Round Robins
The Club’s friendly Round Robins start on Tuesday 31st March & Saturday 4th April. Please arrive by 13.15 for a prompt 13.30 start. £1 pp per session (including tea & biscuit).
New Members
The Committee have decided in this our Centenary Year to set a target for VPBC of getting 100 new people to try bowls at our club.
First two visits are free but we hope many would then join, taking advantage of the special new member fee of £35.
Please would YOU help by finding prospective members and (better still) bringing them to VPBC. We of course promise all a warm welcome and a friendly introduction to the sport of crown green bowling.
Cheers and good bowling!

Chairman (VPBC Centenary)
