How sad ,especially for those who are not technically minded.Perhaps just as well that those very much thought of and longstanding club members are deciding to retire from the club after years of dedicated bowling and very proud acheivements listed on the honours board for all to admire. I realise things have to change but part of the clubs visual history will have disappeared leaving a sense of loss in the clubhouse. A website dosn’t create the same incentive.Just a personal feeling!!

      Hi Debbie,
I would be equally saddened if we are unable to continue the tradition of having historic honours boards displayed in the pavillion. I understand it will be discussed as an agenda item at the next committee meeting.
      See you soon

    Hi folks,
When I looked at the honours board in our old clubhouse, it reminded me of the great club members I used to play with the first time I was a member of the club in the early nineties. We had one of the top Parks league teams in those days, with such great characters as Frank Golab, John Dix, Harry Hesketh. The two gentlemen of the club at the time, Garth Harrison and George McDowell, There was Fred Roper and Cyril Carter. Lets not let these names disappear into the digital highway. Something should be done to visually preserve the history of the club.

Thanks Gary – I am all for modernisation and technology where it adds benefit, but there is something special about seeing club history in written form. I enjoyed reading your comment as you added some more detail to what were just initials and surnames to me. I had to type F Golab on numerous occasions when I was creating the virtual honours board. Just reading the first names of those people brought it more to life.

Great news that the club house has been brought up to date and a great job done by the volunteers But I would think that the honours board should be discussed by all members at the AGM not a committee meeting There must be a more modern way of remembering them
