VPBC Newsletter – October 2020
Introduction
2020 has of course not been the Club’s Centenary year that we had hoped and planned for, but I do think we have done surprisingly well to have got ourselves into a position where we could offer lots of COVID-safe bowling to members over the past few months.
Thanks once again to our Greenkeepers, the Pavilion team, and organisers of Round Robins, Competitions, Inter club matches, Coaching, Green bookings, and refreshments. You are all very much appreciated.
We clearly hope for a more normal bowling year in 2021 but clearly the COVID-19 pandemic situation will be watched carefully. The HM Government and BCGBA regulations and recommendations will be closely followed.
Finally, I would like to encourage all members to keep active during the winter months, and what better way to exercise than taking a brisk walk/stroll through Victoria Park?
Please keep in touch with your VPBC friends over these quieter non-bowling months.
Stay safe,
Ted
Winter bowling at VPBC
Both greens are now CLOSED
We hope that we will be able to offer some (limited) bowling over the winter months, but this will largely be dependent on weather conditions, green condition, and the COVID-19 measures in place.
Further communication will be sent to members should we be in a position to re-open the green(s) for bowling.
Winter bowling at other venues
The off-site winter bowling programme is now up and running with full VPBC squads at The Dunes, Ormskirk BC (Tuesday pm), Zetland BC (Saturday pm) and Moorside Park BC (Saturday pm).
End of season competitions
Congratulations to our Ladies Champion Noreen Lewis, our Mens champion Paul Crummey, and to Ian Goulding who won the VPBC Bowls Ladder.
AGM (Annual General Meeting)
The Committee will soon start planning for 2021, and for the February AGM. Our plans will include (but not limited to):
Greens works & maintenance, deferred centenary celebrations, league teams for 2021, Bowl for Health, Round Robins, Club Competitions, Coaching, and Social events.
Suggestions from members are invited, welcomed, and will be considered by the committee.
Cheers,
Ted Morrell
Chairman
