VPBC Newsletter August 2016

The Southport Flower Show – Thursday 18th – Sunday 21st August is upon us. This is the Town’s, Park’s and Club’s BIG event, hopefully with 4 good days of bowling.

Members and friends attending the show are invited to drop by and buy their tea & cake from us.

We are again supported by Age UK Lancs who will be running a Raffle & Instant prizes Tombola as well as promoting their services.

This Tuesday’s Probus bowling and the Round Robin bowling will not take place as the Paddock will be starting to fill with exhibitors vehicles. However, members are invited to help with the spring clean of pavilion, greens and surrounds. Men are arriving from 9.00am and Ladies from 10.00am.

Frank Rylance is handing over the duties of club Secretary with immediate effect to Andy Muchall. We are extremely grateful to Frank for his services and are glad he is staying on the Committee.
David Spratt is handing over the duties of Greens Officer to Ralph Simpson. Many thanks David for your huge input over the last three years. Ralph will be talking with a contractors re Autumn treatments on main green and the actions now needed urgently on second green so that it can be used throughout the winter months and be in good condition in 2017.

FINALLY – Welcome to our recent new members. We still need, encourage and welcome new members to ensure the ongoing healthy state of the club. Bowling really is a great way to encourage gentle exercise, social involvement and can be as competitive as anyone wishes to make it.

Have you any friend, family or neighbour who could or perhaps should be bowling? Current offer is join now for £30 until 31 March 2018. A great deal as we are (almost) unique in offering 12 months bowling.
