VPBC Newsletter 1st July 2016

To all VPBC members,
1. There is a Committee meeting at 10.00am on Monday 4 July at club. Please contact any committee member if you gave any suggestions, questions or points to make.
2. VPBC are playing an away friendly match in Round Robin format on Tuesday 5th July.  Victoria Park is of course still available for Tuesday afternoon social bowling!

3. With regret this note confirms the cancellation of the Race Night planned for Saturday 9th July. This was because of poor ticket sales.

4.  We are delighted to advise that this year we have 23 new members. New members are all welcome and encouraged to make the most of YOUR club.

5. The No.2 green continues to make a slow recovery with work on it continuing by our contractors. They have tried to speed up the recovery but it is frustratingly slow….. but that is nature!

6. The Sunday “Bowl & Stroll” afternoons have finished but Age UK folk are being invited to come along – especially on Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday afternoons.
Note 1, The Southport Half Marathon takes place this Sunday starting at 9.00am in Victoria Park.
Note 2. Judy Muchall has volunteered to make refreshments even more enjoyable on most Sunday afternoons by providing home baked cake! Judy’s efforts on the “Bowl & Stroll” events were greatly appreciated.

7. The Club Pairs Competition held in Saturday 25th June was won by Keith Sproston & Stan Dyson who beat Deborah Herold & David Gordon in a great final. Well done all participants.

8. The next Club Competition Is on Saturday 16th July and is the CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. We do hope for a strong turn out, especially from members who play in the various club teams. Please register interest with your captain quickly. A sign up sheet will be on club noticeboard.  NB Non entrants must provide written notes of apology from all 4 of their grandparents to be excused.

Cheers & good bowlingTed Morrell
